Welcome to Milestone Clinic

Welcome to Milestone Clinic

Our staff is dedicated to making the lives of our clients better. At Milestone Clinic, we offer assessments and counseling for children, teens and adults, dealing with learning difficulties, anxiety, depression, and other common stressors.

Our professional staff will support you through the steps needed to reach your milestones.

Psychological and Psychoeducational Assessments

Assessments involve a standardized evaluation of a child’s cognitive and academic abilities. The assessment results are used to further understand how your child learns and identify if and how they may be struggling.

The results of the assessments provide an in-depth analysis of an individual’s learning profile. This can be used to inform intervention and to aid the clinician in providing strategies and recommendations to support your child through their challenges.

Assessments can also investigate the presence of possible diagnoses, including learning disabilities, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism, intellectual disability, and other social/emotional/behavioural or psychological disorders.

Parent coaching

Coaching is typically a short-term intervention that provides parents and other caregivers with hands-on, here-and-now tools with the goal of bringing about improvement in their child's behavior. The goal centers on improving the interaction between parent and child. Further, parent coaching aims to re-establish appropriate parent-child dynamics, and decrease undesirable behaviours in the child. In many cases, little changes go a long way.

Individual therapy

The primary goal of individual therapy is to increase the understanding of one's thought and behavior patterns to help increase function and well-being. In therapy, people can learn how to effectively manage stress, interpersonal difficulties and troubling situations.

Individual therapy involves a trained professional helping an individual work through personal difficulties or distress. Through various therapeutic modalities, counseling is an effective treatment for a variety of emotional difficulties. Therapy goals include aiming to increase a person’s resiliency and ability to self-regulate, particularly by expanding their repertoire of coping strategies when experiencing distress.

Behavior support

Using an evidence-based scientific approach, behavioral support aims to help individuals increase desired behaviors and decrease difficult or challenging behaviors. These services utilize a behavior analytic framework, in which the clinician completes a behavioral assessment and takes a holistic view of all the potential factors surrounding the behavior.

Behavioral support aims to help the individual overcome challenging behaviors and learn more adaptive behaviors by implementing safe and time-tested interventions.
